  • A ‘new vessel’ is a vessel that has not had a valid SCMS certificate within the last 9 months.

  • SCMS credit will only be added to your account once the vessel has received an SCMS Code Compliance certificate, and only if you have completed the online application process at www.scmshq.org/code-a-new-vessel or www.scmshq.org/refer-a-friend

  •  Offer only credits the account of the ‘New’ and ‘Referral’ vessel. There is no monetary value to the offer and is valid only for SCMS vessel credit.

  • A maximum of 5 vessel referrals can be made per referee.

  •  SCMS credit can only be used directly against SCMS invoices for administration fees and cannot be used against survey invoices from SCMS Code Examiners.

  • If a vessel/client transfers out of SCMS whilst still having SCMS credit then any remaining credit will be forfeit from your account.

  • If a vessel is transferring in from another Certifying Authority the SCMS may require subsequent surveys/documentation at an additional cost as required by the MCA Codes.

  • Existing clients are not allowed to refer their own vessels, credit will only be gained using the “Code a New Vessel” promotion.

  • Applications to survey and certificate any vessel over 50 years of age are treated on a case by case basis and may be refused by SCMS based on a risk profile assessment.

  •  SCMS reserves the right to refuse coding even if a vessel is deemed to be fully compliant in all respects.

  •  SCMS reserves the right to request up-front invoice payment on a case by case basis based on a risk profile assessment.
